For many of us, Scripture is always close by. We have Bibles on our shelves, Bible apps on our phones, devotionals, podcasts, studies, and more translations than we could ever read.

But that isn’t the reality for everyone.

This October, our prayer focus is God’s Word for Every Heart.

Inspired by Psalm 119:105 — “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path” — this free October Prayer Calendar will help us spend the month thanking God for the gift of Scripture while intentionally praying for people, translators, churches, and ministries working to make the Bible accessible around the world.

What’s included in our October Prayer Calendar:

We’ll pray for Bible translators, local churches, Deaf communities receiving Scripture in sign language, literacy workers, translation teams, families, unreached communities, and people who are still waiting for Scripture in the language that speaks most clearly to their hearts.

You’ll also find little reminders throughout the month to pause and appreciate the incredible gift we already have in God’s Word.

Why Pray for Bible Translation?

Revelation 7:9 gives us a beautiful picture of people from every nation, tribe, people, and language worshiping before the throne of God.

And Bible translation is still happening all over the world.

According to Wycliffe Bible Translators, there are currently 535 known languages that still need Bible translation to begin for the first time, based on their January–June 2026 progress data.

• Behind every one of those languages are real people.
• People who need to hear the good news of Jesus.
• People who want to understand Scripture.

Moms, children, families, pastors, new believers, and entire communities who may not yet have the same easy access to God’s Word that many of us enjoy every single day.
