Christian Stewardship and Life Stages
Do you remember the days of being a kid—carefree at home with everything taken care of for you? If you didn’t want to clean your room for a year, who stopped you? And if Mom came into the room… well, just shove everything under the bed!
We couldn’t wait to grow up and become adults. We dreamed of being in charge of our own lives, making our own decisions, and pursuing our biggest goals. Back then, we weren’t thinking about paying bills, caring for a home, or even taking care of our bodies. It feels like we blinked, and suddenly those carefree days were behind us.
Sometimes I wish I could turn back the clock and return to a season with fewer responsibilities. But then I remember that God has me exactly where He wants me. And He has you exactly where He wants you too.
Whether you’re navigating work, raising children, caring for aging parents, managing a household, or simply trying to keep up with the never-ending laundry, it’s easy to become overwhelmed. Yet many of the things that weigh us down today are actually blessings we once prayed for. The enemy loves to distract us from that reality.
At its core, Christian stewardship is recognizing God’s gifts and faithfully managing what He has entrusted to us. Many of the responsibilities we carry today are not interruptions to God’s plan—they are opportunities to honor Him through faithful Christian stewardship.

Ever since getting married, God has consistently reminded me of my responsibility to steward what He has entrusted to me. One verse that often comes to mind is James 1:17:
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17
Every good thing we have is a gift from God. Our time, our relationships, our resources—they all belong to Him. And because they belong to Him, we are called to steward them faithfully.
Biblical stewardship begins with understanding that we are not owners, but caretakers. God has graciously entrusted these gifts to us, and He calls us to use them wisely for His glory and the good of others.
Stewarding Our Time
When I was in fourth grade, something happened that I never forgot.
Now, I was a pretty sheltered ten-year-old. I loved Jesus, but I hadn’t yet wrestled with many of life’s bigger questions.
Then one day a girl at school came up to me and said:
“Isn’t it odd that we all say we’re living when we’re actually all slowly dying?”
Now what kind of fourth grader goes around saying things like that?
My mind practically malfunctioned. Suddenly I became aware of something I had never seriously considered before: life is short.
I remember wishing I could go back to the moment before she said it—to when I was simply enjoying life instead of thinking about losing it.
As my faith matured, however, I began to understand that recognizing the brevity of life isn’t meant to make us fearful. It’s meant to make us wise.

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
Scripture repeatedly reminds us that our lives are but a breath. Not because God wants us dwelling on death, but because He wants us living intentionally.
When we truly understand that our time is limited, we begin asking better questions. Am I spending my time on things that matter? Am I living for God’s purposes or simply drifting through life?
Numbering our days reminds us that our lives are not our own. Every day is a gift, and every day is an opportunity to honor the One who gave it.
Christian stewardship of our time means living intentionally with the days God has given us. Rather than drifting through life, we seek to invest our time in ways that honor Him and reflect His priorities.
Stewarding Our Relationships

If we want to know what God desires us to do with the time He’s given us, Jesus makes it wonderfully clear.
In Mark 12:30-31 He said:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength… The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”
There is no greater calling than to love God wholeheartedly.
Loving God means spending time in His Word, filling our minds with His truth, seeking Him in prayer, and placing Him above every other priority in our lives. It means following the leading of the Holy Spirit and living in obedience to Him.
When we remember that our days are numbered, this calling becomes even more urgent. We have been given this life to know Him, love Him, and glorify Him.
But Jesus didn’t stop there.
The second great commandment is to love our neighbors as ourselves.
Think about the people God has intentionally placed in your life. Your spouse. Your children. Your parents. Your coworkers. Your church family. Your friends.
These relationships are not accidents. They are part of the stewardship God has entrusted to you.
Faithful stewardship includes caring well for the people God has placed in our lives. One of the greatest ways we honor Him is by loving others with patience, humility, kindness, and grace.
Loving others often looks far less glamorous than we imagine. It may look like changing diapers, washing dishes, listening patiently, serving behind the scenes, or showing up when someone needs encouragement.
We don’t serve for the “thank you” or the high we get from feeling needed. We serve from a place of humility. God doesn’t ask us to pursue earthly recognition. He asks us to love the people He has placed in front of us for His ultimate glory.
Stewarding Our Resources
Another way we love others is through the stewardship of our financial resources.
God has entrusted each of us with different amounts, but every gift can be used to serve His kingdom and bless those around us.
Christian stewardship extends to every resource God places in our care. Whether our resources are great or small, stewarding God’s gifts faithfully means recognizing that everything ultimately belongs to Him.
I remember the season when my husband Isaac worked in a support-raised ministry position. We depended on the generosity of other believers who chose to financially support the work God had called him to do.
Every gift mattered.
Whether someone gave a large amount or a small amount, we were deeply grateful because each gift represented someone choosing to invest in God’s work through our family.
This is one of the beautiful ways the body of Christ is designed to function. We bear one another’s burdens. We support one another in times of need. We give generously because we recognize that everything we have ultimately belongs to God.
Perhaps you’ve experienced this yourself. Maybe you’ve walked through a difficult season and watched God provide through the generosity of other believers. Those moments leave a lasting impact.
God’s design is that we would experience both the joy of giving and the humility of receiving.
This brings me to a special organization I want to present to you.
One practical example of Christian stewardship is thoughtfully considering how we manage the financial responsibilities God has entrusted to our families.
This is where Liberty HealthShare enters the conversation.
Liberty HealthShare is a ministry in which Christian members strive to be a force for good in the world through wise financial stewardship—particularly the mutual sharing of eligible medical expenses and a variety of charitable initiatives.

Have you ever wanted to find a community of people who share your values and belief in the biblical mandate to bear one another’s burdens? Have you been searching for a better way to manage your family’s healthcare expenses? Liberty HealthShare is a community of people committed to just that.
Liberty HealthShare isn’t insurance, and if you ask some of their members, it can be so much better. Instead of your money going to a faceless insurance company funding procedures and treatments you may not agree with, your voluntary monthly share participates in a community committed to sharing eligible medical expenses among members.
When Isaac and I were in the support-raising season of our lives, healthcare expenses were one of the many practical areas that required prayer, wisdom, and research.
As we explored different options and thought through how we would practice Christian stewardship in this area of our lives, Liberty HealthShare was one of the organizations that stood out to us.
What resonated with us wasn’t simply the idea of finding a traditional insurance alternative. We were drawn to the biblical principle behind health sharing itself—a community of believers seeking to bear one another’s burdens in practical ways. We appreciated Liberty HealthShare’s commitment to wise Christian stewardship and their desire to live out Christian community beyond Sunday mornings.
Health sharing is a viable option for individuals and families who wish to join a community of like-minded Christians for the opportunity to share eligible medical expenses.
It works so well, in fact, that due to excellent financial stewardship and a committed membership, Liberty HealthShare is returning more than $2 million directly back to members.
