3 Hour Quiet Time Routine Printable Guide(3 Simple Steps)
Here are three simple steps to growing closer to God during your quiet time and a Quiet Time Routine Printable Guide!
I want you to tailor these steps to what works for you. Whether you have your quiet time in the morning or night, for three hours or 10 minutes, it doesn’t matter—as long as you are growing closer to Jesus!
1. Quiet Prayer and Rest Before God
Come before God and rest: let thoughts and worries come to your mind and give them over to Him.
Ask for God’s Spirit: invite Him to refresh you in His presence today.
Rest in silence: this will be hard, but press into it. Our fast-paced culture makes stillness rare—don’t neglect it.
Be mindful of the present:
If guilt from the past surfaces—give it to God.
If anxiety about the future arises—give it to God.
Let thoughts rise, talk them through with God, and surrender them at His feet.
Don’t worry if it feels awkward: even feeling inadequate is normal. Offer that to God too, asking for His help in prayer.
2. Remind Yourself of the Gospel
After prayer, open your Bible to Romans.
The Gospel—the good news of Jesus Christ—is the foundation of our faith. Going a day without remembering it is like going a day without food.
Reading Romans reminds us of:
The seriousness of sin.
The abundance of God’s grace through Jesus.
How to engage with Romans:
Read – Start with Romans 1, or Romans 6 if you prefer (“Dead to Sin, Alive to God”).
Rest, Think, Pray – Let God’s Word sink into your soul. Talk to Him about what you read.
Read Again – With childlike faith. Ask:
What stood out to me?
What is penetrating my heart?
What does this say about who God is and what He’s done?
How will the Gospel change my life today?
Journal Prayer – Write out your response to God. Scripture is God speaking to us; prayer is us speaking back.
3. Meditation and Prayer Walk
Choose a Psalm to memorize (Psalm 1 is a great place to start).
Write it down, then take it with you on a walk in nature.
Meditation God’s way means filling your mind with His truth:
Read the Psalm repeatedly.
Speak it out loud and think about it deeply.
Let Scripture sink into your heart like waves washing over you.
I hope this helps you as much as it helped me!
